PTWF initiated the
loan request for the original manuscripts of Maimonides and others, to
the Israel Museum. Pave assisted in the planning and obtaining
permission from the Vatican Library for the exhibit.
Permission was granted for the loan, of the rare medieval writings,
for the first time in history. The Exhibit commemorated the
fortieth anniversary of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, September
2005. The granting of this loan is an example of the spirit of
cooperation between the State of Israel and the Vatican.
Recently, as a result of our initiating this new relationship, the
Israel Museum in Jerusalem reciprocated to the Vatican by loaning
them two paintings one
Rembrandt
and a Botticelli. This loan is in commemoration
of the 500th anniversary of the Basilica of St. Peter.
Pave the Way foundation is proud of its contribution resulting in
these
wonderful gestures of friendship between the Vatican and the State of
Israel. These gestures have "paved the way" to wonderful cultural
exchanges and many future projects.
